Loveland, Colorado and the Emerald Ash Borer
For both Loveland and Berthoud, CO there have been no sightings of the Emerald Ash Borer yet. As menacing as the green little insect can be, with proper tree care and preventative measures we can protect your ash trees. Using our 100% organic deep root tree fertilization, the trees stay healthy and give it a better chance of surviving an EAB attack. We also offer soil injections as a preventative measure to keep the EAB from attacking the tree.
Once the Emerald Ash Borer has been spotted in your area, we would suggest to do a trunk injection called Tree-age, which is an insecticide that will kill any borers in the tree and protect the tree for two years.

FAQ – Colorado Tree Care
Which Colorado cities has the Emerald Ash Borer been found?
In 2013 Emerald Ash Borers were found in Boulder, in 2016 they were found in Longmont, CO, and in 2017 they were discovered in Lafayette, CO. If you live in these cities, to protect ash trees from the Emerald Ash Borer we suggest a Trunk Injection using Tree-age. If your ash tree has never been treated for EAB we recommend a trunk injection using Tree-age. This injection can be applied any time there are leaves on the ash tree. This insecticide will kill EAB larvae if the tree has already been infected and it will also protect the ash tree for up to three years. After the Second year we suggest switching to the preventative treatment called Merit.
For nearby cities like Loveland and Berthoud, CO we suggest a preventative soil injection using either Merit or Safari. To protect your ash trees’ we strongly recommend deep root soil injections of Merit which is used as a preventative Emerald Ash Borer treatment and it needs to be applied proactively once per year. Ideally this would be applied every autumn between the months of September to early November if weather permits. If the fall months were missed then anytime from April to early June the tree should be treated using an insecticide called Safari. This insecticide is a fast acting preventative and will prevent the Emerald Ash Borer, but it will only work if the tree has not already been attacked. This is extremely important to do proactively because it will not work re-actively. It is difficult to identify if a tree has been attacked because it may not show any signs of damage for up to 5 years, even after it has been severely attacked.
